Ozon vs Wildberries Payouts: Comparing the Cash Cycles

How the cash cycles differ on the two platforms: payout schedules, reporting periods, deductions and acceleration options - and how the difference affects working capital planning for a multi-platform seller.

A seller on two platforms lives with two different cash cycles: sales happen every day, but the money arrives on schedules that do not line up. Understanding the difference is the foundation of a payment calendar. Below we compare the payout mechanics of Wildberries and Ozon and derive planning rules. Detailed breakdowns for each platform are in the mirror guides: Wildberries payouts and Ozon payouts.

What both platforms have in common

  • You cannot "withdraw" money - the platform transfers it itself, on a schedule, to the bank details in your seller account.
  • Payout = sales minus deductions: commission, logistics (including return logistics), storage, advertising, fines.
  • The key document is the sales report, and it has to be reconciled against incoming payments.
  • Tax is calculated on sales, not on payouts - identical on both platforms: VAT and the simplified tax system (USN).

Key differences between the cycles

Default frequency. Wildberries has historically paid more often (a weekly rhythm of reporting periods), Ozon pays twice a month based on each half of the month. Both platforms revise the exact schedules periodically - check the current timetable in your seller account.

Acceleration options. Both platforms sell more frequent payouts for a percentage. The economics of that option are weighed against the cost of a cash gap: in tight months the acceleration fee is usually cheaper than emergency borrowing.

Structure of deductions. The final share of deductions depends on the category and on your operations: on Ozon the advertising component is more noticeable (bids are baked into the economics of promotion), on Wildberries it is paid inbound acceptance and warehouse coefficients. Compare the platforms on your own unit economics, not on someone else's averages: how to calculate it.

Behavior under sanctions. Both platforms can withhold and freeze payouts during disputes and blocks - what to do about it is covered in the guide on a blocked seller account.

What this means for planning

  1. Two schedules, one calendar. In your payment calendar, inflows from Wildberries and Ozon are separate lines with their own dates - an "average payout per month" hides the weekly dips.
  2. Do not fund one platform from the other blindly. Moving money from the Wildberries cycle into an Ozon purchase is fine - provided the calendar shows that the Wildberries inflow will return before the Ozon payments are due.
  3. Track the receivables of each platform. "Money in transit" at Wildberries and Ozon is part of your working capital; as turnover grows, this line grows first.
  4. Different schedules are also insurance: offset payout dates smooth the cash flow of a multi-platform seller - use that when planning purchases.

FAQ

"Who pays faster - Wildberries or Ozon?" By default the Wildberries rhythm is more frequent (weekly periods), while Ozon pays twice a month; both sell acceleration for a percentage. But it is worth comparing the full cycle to cash, including inbound acceptance and turnover, not just the transfer schedule.

"Can I get payouts more often from both platforms?" Yes, both have paid options for more frequent payouts. Weigh the service fee against the cost of a cash gap - in peak season acceleration usually pays for itself.

"Why are my deductions higher on Ozon than on Wildberries?" Most likely the structure differs: advertising on Ozon and paid acceptance and warehousing on Wildberries are allocated differently. Reconcile the unit economics for each platform separately - for your own categories and your own operations.

"How do I plan cash while working on two platforms?" A payment calendar with separate inflow lines for each platform and their own dates. Offset payout schedules smooth the flow - that is the advantage of being multi-platform, if you manage it.
